KIA KAHA CONCERT

A WORLD TRIBUTE FOR CHRISTCHURCH

On the day of March 15th, 2019, a terrorist killed 51 people while they were in prayer at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. This was an act of hate driven by ignorance. As a global society we are still coming to terms with the concept of ‘Us Versus Them’ instead of just ‘Us’ - we focus on the differences between people, but if we focused on what we have in common we could achieve so much more together.

A STAND AGAINST EVIL

We say enough is enough. New Zealand and Australia have had a proud history of sharing values and a way of life. Together we can take a stand against evil - together we will always achieve more than we can on our own.

The responsibility lies with everyone to stand against evil and actively promote the values that we want in our society. As New Zealanders, as Australians, as global population. This is the movement that the One Love Australia is trying to start - we want to empower local communities to demonstrate what they stand for.

A CONCERT THAT MADE A STATEMENT

Kia Kaha - Stay Strong. On May the 4th 2019 we ran a concert in Christchurch as an opportunity for the community to come together in a statement of love and support. We partnered with Australian and local acts to create a musically driven evening that featured acts like Reece Mastin, Taylor Henderson, Alfie Arcuri, Louise Adams & Cobham School Choir featuring Ali Harper.

The goal of our concert was to promote a message of moving forward with unity, rather than hastily looking back with fear and anger. Terrorist acts do not define us - it is not a reflection on many of the societal values that New Zealand and Australia have proudly shared for decades.
